Wake-Up Call

I will never believe that there are people in the world who can easily wake up in the morning no matter what time is it, smile to the relatives or to the mirror and energetically start for work. Even if they exist they are not real. Even if they are real, I definitely do not belong to them. My morning is a constant struggle with an alarm which turns into awful screaming monster in my half-dreams and steals the most delicious moments of sleep from me. But recently some new devices have emerged and I hope that they will make the wake-up ordeal less miserable.

For example, there are programs developed for iPhone which are called Sleep Cycle and Smart Alarm Clock. For Androids there exists app Sleep-as-an- Droid. These apps observe the phases of your sleep. It is a well-known fact that it’s harder to wake up during the slow phase. So, these programs choose the right moment to wake you up when you are in the phase of fast sleep. They define this moment by observing the state of your activity – if you become restless, your phone notices it with the help of special sensor and turns the alarm on. The disadvantage of this method is that these apps are too sensitive, and if you do not sleep alone or have pets they can mistake your fast sleep activity for some other kind of movement on the bed.
